Through our work describing, explaining and helping people apply S3 patterns, we've gained a deeper understanding of the underlying common sense that guides people toward building more successful organizations.

The more people become aware of this common sense, the more they can use it to develop ways together that help both them, and the organization, to thrive.

Over the past several months the three co-developers of Sociocracy 3.0 have gone through a creative process to see if we could articlate this common sense. This has resulted in a new addition to S3:

The Common Sense Framework (CSF for short)

Through 10 essential principles for evolving teams and organizations, the framework helps you lay out the big picture of what to consider to grow and maintain adaptive, resilient, and productive organizations, focused on creating value, where both the people and the organization thrive.

It provides a powerful system for sensemaking, and a simple system for navigating through the 74 patterns,  guiding people on where to start and which patterns might be helpful to use.

During this session you will learn:

  • what the Common Sense Framework is

  • how it can be used as a tool for sensemaking in organizations, and for identifying and prioritizing areas of need

  • how it can help you identify which S3 patterns may be helpful to tackle specific challenges and opportunities you face.
